Safeguarding Youth & Event Safety

In Scouting, we will not compromise the safety of our youth, volunteers, and employees. Safety is a value that must be taught and reinforced at every opportunity. We are all responsible and must hold each other accountable to provide a safe environment for all participants.

  • All National Jamboree visitors are required to view an “all ages” Safeguarding Youth video during their transit from their parking area to the Summit. This video highlights important guidelines to help keep everyone safe.
  • The Jamboree will have medical services available at both the Ruby Welcome Center and on site at the Summit in the Summit Center area.
  • Jamboree management reserves the right to deny access to the Jamboree site to any visitor.
  • Strollers for infants must fold to board shuttle buses and are subject to search. Although permitted, strollers are discouraged, because walkways and paths are rough gravel and terrain is hilly.
  • For your safety and the safety of the Jamboree participants, screening of visitors is conducted immediately prior to the boarding of transportation to the Summit.  The following guidelines will be followed based on The Department of Homeland Security’s five-level threat advisory system:

Access on Grounds

Reminder: Visitors will only access the Summit Center area at the Summit Bechtel Reserve. The Summit Center provides visitors with an exciting sampling of what the National Jamboree has to offer. From a sampling of high adventure activities to engaging Scout programs, there is so much for visitors at the National Jamboree to experience! Please note that visitors cannot access other areas at the Summit – National Jamboree site beyond the Summit Center, and thus cannot participate in elements such as:  Mountain biking, Zip lines, Shooting sports, and Aquatic activities.

Visitors are not allowed in the subcamps or in the adventure areas outside of the Summit Center. If you wish to meet someone such as your child or other Jamboree participant on site, we suggest you arrange to meet them at a landmark in the Summit Center at a specific time. Both WIFI and cellular service will be available so you should be able to contact them by phone. Arrange to do this ahead of time to ensure you can meet up during your visit, if possible. Landmarks that allow something to do while waiting to meet up are the trading post in the gateway area, the Sustainability Tree House, or the Scott Visitor Center building, all in or near the gateway entrance to the Jamboree. Again, it is important to make those arrangements ahead of time, as the site will be very crowded.
